hiking in fits in northwest washington

Hello all, my name is Cammeron Evans and I am a Northwest native. I am 24 years old and currently reside in Seattle, WA. Living in Seattle puts you at the footsteps for not only the entire Washington Cascades, but also the gorgeously diverse Olympic Mountain Range. I am a freelance photographer with a day job at the most exciting grocery store out there, Trader Joe's. This gives me a great deal of free time to pursue what truly makes myself complete, the outdoors. I was happy to have been given the opportunity to do a little trip report here for my favorite sock company out there - FITS!

I recently took an amazing trip to the Goat Rocks Wilderness, which sits along the scenic “PCT” in the South Cascades of WA. Our trip consisted mainly of hiking through alpine meadows and some small snowfields still left behind from this winter. Our journey began at roughly 4,000 ft., and our destination for the evening sat just under 8,000 ft. atop Old Snowy Mountain.

Hiking in Goat Rocks Wilderness

This loop trip starts out in a lush forest and quickly begins climbing into sub alpine meadows with thinning trees, replaced simultaneously by gorgeous wildflower fields as far as you can see! Close to the halfway point, for the day, my group and I stopped for a quick break to gather some steam for our destination. At this point, Old Snowy Mountain has now become very prolific sitting high up along the ruin that is the Goat Rock Range.

After a couple more hours of climbing we finally achieved our camp for the afternoon/evening. Expansive views of the wonderland that we just emerged from are now in view with vivid looks to Mt Adams, St. Helens, and Rainier! We could even see the second half of our loop ahead including magical Goat Lake tucked away in the rock.

I am a firm believer that when performing strenuous tasks, your body’s ability to compete and keep moving foreword relies heavily from the ground up. I have hiked in several brands of socks, and my partner and I have stopped looking with FITS. I have never gotten a blister wearing FITS which means I have never had to cut a trip short. If you take care of your feet, they will give you the opportunity to see the most that life has to offer. I will continue hiking in these socks as long as they keep making them. I just recently added a few new pairs as the ones from THREE years ago had just begun to show “wear and tear”. Thank you for taking a minute to read about my adventure, now get out and start planning yours!
